Last February, I joined a gym and on my very first day, my very first time on the ab machine I got this weird pain on the left front side of my abs. I had no idea what it was. I had been having some weird on and off pain there for about 8 years…nothing excruciating, more like annoying.
Anyway..this pain WAS excruciating after that and for 6 weeks, Doctors tried to figure out what it was. I had a CT scan which showed no hernia but a kidney stone on the opposite side. Great, something else to worry about.
Long story short, I ended up in the ER with an incarcerated hernia (so much for CT scans) and had to have surgery to repair it. As soon as I woke up it was already a million percent better. I was so relieved to have that pain gone. I had not been able to cough, sneeze, move or breathe without wanting to cry.
The only thing is, ever since they fixed it, I now have that same pain (but on a minute scale) in other parts of my abdomen. Needless to say it is making me super paranoid but I refuse to give in. I am just going to take it slow and see how it goes.
With all that said, I needed to come up with something to do on the “off” days for this beginner’s running challenge so I decided to very carefully do 10-20 reps of every kind of sit-up I could think of. I did feel a little discomfort in some spots but I worked through it.
I also did 30 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill in the hopes it would loosen up my legs a little bit which are still pretty tight from yesterdays workout. (I didn’t work LOL) I went to stand up at church and almost fell back down because my legs didn’t want to come with me!!!
It’s all good. I like this kind of pain!
