What a week!

So…last Sunday was my birthday…39 years old.

My mom asked me what I wanted and for some crazy reason I decided she should get me a slicer. You know…those super sharp ones for slicing veggies? Yeah…BIG mistake!!!

Monday morning…I was making my sandwich to bring with me to work and I figured I would try out said slicer on an onion. One pass and it slipped and off went the tip of my thumb. OUCH!

Now of course this instantly made me wonder what on earth I was thinking asking for anything sharp considering I am always getting papercuts or slicing myself on something but honestly…my mom should have known better right?? haha

So after an excruciatingly painful trip to the urgent care, my finger was bandaged up and I was sent on my way with instructions to keep it elevated and dry for 10 days.

I have to say, you never really know how much you use something until it’s no longer able to be used! Trying to put a little clip in my hair, brushing my teeth, putting on a bra or zipping up my pants suddenly became almst impossible!

I also went 4 nights with no sleep and so by yesterday I was on the verge of being a crazy woman.

On top of all that, I went out for dinner with my BF on Thursday and got food poisoning!! (See this is what I get for cheating on my diet…I know).

Lets just say it has been a VERY long week.

So for this last week I have gone back to being slacker me. The throbbing pain in my thumb and the exhaustion left me wanting to do anything besides work out. I did however buy myself a present to keep me going and it will behere on Monday so Tuesday I am officially starting over again with my new FitBit.

I am very excited about it…I think seeing the amount of movement in a day (or lack of) will be a huge motivator for me.

So Tuesday morning I will be dragging my butt outta bed super early and hopping on the treadmill before my son wakes up. I am also going to be doing anything and everything on my Wii Fit and my Zumba for Wii.

I really think I need to make a schedule for myself…(a very hard thing to do when you work full-time and the rest of the time are at the mercy of a 3 yr old who has spent the day missing me).

I can do this.

I can make it work.

I have had much bigger challenges in my life and I have made it through.

I’m going to be at work alone all day tomorrow so I’ll be checking out new blogs to follow. But I want to follow blogs who post personal things, pictures of themselves/their food/their pets/etc, and just talk about random things throughout their day. I like to get to…

Wine = Bad idea

OK so I now know that working out the day after drinking wine - BAD idea.

I went out for Valentine’s dinner and had some wine and that night I slepty horribly so needless to say, Wednesday’s workout was a complete bust. I did not attempt to do it before work but when I got home, I hopped on the treadmill and it was awful. I ran for 2 minutes and just could not catch my breath. I ended up walking more than running for about 10 minutes and then I just gave up. I had no air and my legs were just dead. I also had to make a cake for a restaurant by my house so I was up late doing that which sucked!

I did however redeem myself a little bit this morning.

I ran for 10 minutes and walked for 10 minutes at a fast pace and I am going to do it all again tonight.

I know it doesn’t sound like much but from someone who could not be more out of shape, this is HUGE!
